Chacmool Conference Topic Proposals

As the 2013 Chacmool Conference is upon us,it is also time to brainstorm
and submit your ideas of what would make for a good conference topic for
next year (2014). Below we have outlined the submission process.


Due: November 4, 2013
Announcement: Will be made at this year’s Conference banquet

There are 3 parts to submitting a proposal (please try to keep it to 3
pages or less).

1) Pick a Theme! If it has a catchy name, all the better!
Here are some examples from the past:

- Eat, Drink, and Be Merry: The Archaeology of Foodways
- Archaeology in the new Millennium: Public or Perish
- Art for Archaeology's Sake
- Networks of the Past: Regional Interaction in Archaeology

2) Description Paragraph
- Explain the theme and why it is important to archaeology
- List possible plenary and keynote speakers
- List possible session topics

3) Signatures of 7 people committed to organizing/planning the conference
- 3 undergraduate students, one of whom will be the Conference Chair
- 2 faculty members (professors), for help/guidance
- 2 graduate students, for help/guidance
