CFP: Animal Agriculture Industry Disinformation
We invite abstract submissions for an edited volume on animal agriculture industry disinformation. Slaughtering Reality: The Animal Agriculture Industry’s War on Science will examine how the animal agriculture industry has systematically sought to undermine, distort, and delay public understanding of well-established scientific evidence concerning climate change, biodiversity loss, dietary health, public health, and animal welfare.
Drawing on research across the social sciences, humanities, health sciences, and policy studies, the volume will analyze animal agriculture as a contemporary case of organized science denial and disinformation, comparable in structure and strategy to earlier campaigns by the tobacco and fossil fuel industries. This edited volume is being developed in response to an invitation from McGill-Queen’s University Press. It will bring together a curated group of contributors whose work directly addresses the political, economic, and communicative dynamics of animal agriculture disinformation.
