Save the Date!

The Canadian Communication Association is excited to announce that our 2026 conference will be held at the University of Windsor, in Windsor, Ontario, June 2–4, hosted by the Department of Communication, Media and Film.
This will be the CCA’s first conference held independently of the Federation of Humanities and Social Sciences of Canada, which is not hosting<https://www.federationhss.ca/en/announcement-congress-2026-may-2025> a Congress in 2026.
The city of Windsor holds significance for the CCA. As Michael Darroch notes in his essay “Borderline Cases: Crossing Borders in Canadian Communication Studies, 1960s–1980s<https://hms.mediastudies.press/pub/am-darroch/release/2>,” the idea to form the Canadian Communication Association was first proposed at a conference at the University of Windsor in 1978. “Windsor thus played an important but underreported role in establishing the CCA as a cross-nation initiative for the field of Canadian communication studies,” Darroch writes.
We look forward to meeting in Windsor to continue our almost-fifty-year tradition of gathering for research and knowledge exchange, stimulating conversation, and connecting with colleagues from across the country.

L’Association canadienne de communication a le plaisir d’annoncer que notre conférence de 2026 aura lieu à l’Université de Windsor, à Windsor, Ontario, du 2 au 4 juin, sous l’égide du Département de communication, des médias et du cinéma.
Ce sera la première conférence de l’ACC qui se tiendra indépendamment de la Fédération des sciences humaines, celle-ci ne présentant pas<https://www.federationhss.ca/fr/annonce-concernant-le-congres-2026-mai-2025> de Congrès en 2026.
La ville de Windsor revêt une importance particulière pour l’ACC. Comme Michael Darroch l’écrit dans son essai Borderline Cases: Crossing Borders in Canadian Communication Studies, 1960s–1980s<https://hms.mediastudies.press/pub/am-darroch/release/2>, l’idée de former l’Association canadienne de communication a été proposée pour la première fois lors d’une conférence à l’Université de Windsor en 1978. « Windsor a donc joué un rôle important mais sous-estimé dans la création de l’ACC en tant qu’initiative transnationale dans le domaine des études canadiennes en communication, » écrit Darroch.
Nous avons hâte de nous réunir à Windsor pour poursuivre notre tradition de presque 50 ans de rencontres pour la recherche et l’échange de connaissances, de conversations stimulantes, et de création de liens avec des collègues de partout au pays.
