(for transparency this message is bcc'd to my relations in faculty, students, and community)

Hello Friends,

I am very happy to share an opportunity for you or someone you may know.

The Narwhal<https://thenarwhal.ca/> is hosting an Indigenous Photojournalism Fellowship<http://team%20of%20investigative%20journalists%20dives%20deep%20to%20tell%20stories%20about%20the%20natural%20world%20in%20Canada%20you%20can’t%20find%20anywhere%20else.> that they define as being for First Nations, Inuit and Métis photographers based in so-called Ontario.

The Narwhal has an environmental focus where a "team of investigative journalists dives deep to tell stories about the natural world in Canada you can’t find anywhere else."

>From the fellowship posting:

"The Narwhal frequently reports on stories that deeply impact the lives of Indigenous communities, especially as many of these communities grapple with the ongoing impacts of climate change, natural resource development and environmental racism.

We want to see more of these stories — and we want to ensure they’re told more often by Indigenous journalists. That’s why we’re launching The Narwhal’s Indigenous Photojournalism Fellowship.

If you wonder whether you’re the right fit for this fellowship or have questions before you fill out the application, email us at michelle at thenarwhal.ca<mailto:michelle at thenarwhal.ca>. Tell us why you’re excited about it!"

>From my reading, the opportunity is grounded by good intention. From my conversation with them, it is about experience and capacity building as much or more than only great content.

Beyond bringing this opportunity to your attention, I encourage you to think about anyone in your relations who might be interested or even just curious.

Please ask them to reach out to the publication<mailto:michelle at thenarwhal.ca> directly and start the conversation.

Ravi
