Dear CCA Graduate Students,

The next Graduate Caucus skills sharing webinar will occur Friday, 11 August 2023 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST on Learning How to Publish Your Academic Work.

This webinar will be based on Hurrell et al. (2024) article on how graduate students learn how to publish, and corresponding student guide Academic Publishing Demystified<https://libguides.ucalgary.ca/publishing>. This event’s learning objectives are:

  *   Determining where to publish your article using an Excel scoring system;
  *   Understanding peer review and addressing comments with a review table;
  *   Getting into a writing routine and finishing your article for publication (based on Belcher’s Writing Your Journal Article in 12 Weeks<https://wendybelcher.com/writing-advice/writing-your-journal-article-in-twelve/> and Becker’s Writing for Social Scientists<https://press.uchicago.edu/ucp/books/book/chicago/W/bo47674306.html>);
  *   Making your written document accessible to readers with various disabilities and tracking this in Excel (e.g., colour contrast of embedded images, intricacies for use of screen readers);
  *   Providing meaningful comments when you’re the peer reviewer; and
  *   Publishing in graduate student journals (such as Stream<https://journals.sfu.ca/stream/index.php/stream/announcement/view/29>!).
