Definite Term Lecturer, Speech Communication

The Department of Communication Arts in the Faculty of Arts at the University of Waterloo invites applications for a three-year Definite Term Lecturer position, with a start date of August 1, 2020. Based in a liberal arts faculty with high national and international standards, the Department of Communication Arts currently serves approximately 200 majors and 100 minors and delivers core communication courses to four Faculties from across the University.

This position involves teaching seven courses per academic year in the fall, winter, and spring terms (80% of the appointment); and various service and administrative responsibilities (20% of the appointment). It is anticipated that the Definite Term Lecturer will teach communication courses specifically designed for students outside of the Faculty of Arts, as well as courses within the Department.  Strong candidates will be able to integrate theory and practice in courses and have experience teaching communication courses to students from disciplines or areas outside of Communication Studies. Demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching, a commitment to experiential learning, experience liaising with university faculty and staff, and familiarity with diverse groups of students will be assets.  The successful candidate must have a PhD in Communication Studies or a related field.

The salary range for this position at the rank of Lecturer is $65,000 to $100,000.  The closing date for applications is March 20, 2020.
