York University is now accepting applications for admission to the York-Ryerson Joint Graduate Program in Communication & Culture<https://cmct.gradstudies.yorku.ca/> for Fall 2020.

The priority-consideration deadline for both domestic and international applicants is 15 January 2020.

The Joint Graduate Program in Communication & Culture is a unique partnership between two leading Canadian universities that offers students a distinctly interdisciplinary perspective on the study of communication, media, and culture. Drawing from a number of disciplines and departments at both institutions, the faculty members collectively represent a breadth of perspectives and professional experience in communications, the social sciences, humanities, media, and fine arts.

The Joint Graduate Program in Communication & Culture is distinctive for its recognition of academic, professional, and creative practice-based approaches to scholarship in communication studies. The program curriculum is organized in three flexible areas of study-Media and Culture, Politics and Policy, and Technology in Practice-with the objective of preparing students to investigate and interrogate contemporary and historical issues and practices. It reflects the view that advanced work in the field of Communication Studies requires not only a thorough grounding in theory, history, and method but also an understanding of the practices, processes, and technologies involved in communication and cultural production. In keeping with its interdisciplinary and comprehensive conception of the field, the program allows students to report research in the form of a major research paper, thesis, or project for the MA degree, and includes research creation as an option for the PhD dissertation.

Our alumni have found success throughout Canada and around the world across many sectors, including: academia, arts and culture management, policy, public service, journalism, marketing communications, publishing, photography, project management, freelance writing and editing, non-profit administration, law, film, and design.
