Guest Speaker Announcement – ENCI 523

The Department of Civil Engineering is pleased to welcome Susanne Ouellet, P.Eng., Ph.D., Geotechnical Director at Lumina Geotechnical and Materials Engineering, as a guest speaker for ENCI 523: Soil Mechanics & Foundations.

About the Speaker
Dr. Susanne Ouellet is a highly respected Geotechnical Director with extensive experience supporting infrastructure, land development, and geohazard projects across Western Canada. Her expertise spans site investigation, laboratory testing, foundation and slope design, embankment assessment, and construction-phase geotechnical support. Susanne is known for integrating strong technical analysis with practical, site-based engineering judgment.
Throughout her career, she has led multidisciplinary teams, contributed to major infrastructure and municipal projects, and played a prominent role in advancing geotechnical practice within industry. She is also deeply committed to mentoring emerging engineers and fostering a collaborative, supportive professional environment.
Her presentation will give students valuable insight into how geotechnical engineering decisions are made in practice—from field investigation to analysis to design recommendations.

We welcome both students and faculty to attend; however, please note that space is limited.
