TO ALL 4TH/5TH YEAR ENGG STUDENTS
Dear Students,
The 2010 Graduation Banquet which will be held on March 13, 2010 and the
grad committee is currently looking for people who are interested in
participating in the ceremonies. Right now we are just looking for people
who are interested. By replying
to ess at ucalgary.ca , you are not committing and are not guaranteed the
position. The following are the positions we are looking to fill:
1. Master of Ceremonies - 1 guy and 1 girl to introduce each speaker and
make any pertinent announcements.
2. Professor Award Presenter - 1 student from each department to present the
department specific professor awards.
3. Toast to the Parents - 1 student to deliver a toast to the parents.
4. Toast to the Professors - 1 or 2 students to deliver a toast to the
professors.
5. Toast to the Volunteers - 1 or 2 students to deliver a toast to all of
the volunteers.
6. Class Historians - 1 or 2 students from each deparment to reflect on the
past 4 or 5 or 6 years in an entertaining and professional way.
Presentations are often made in the form of power point, video, or just a
slide show. It is good practice to avoid highly specific events as the
presentations are meant to be understood by the entire audience (not just
chem or petroleum).
If you are interested in any of the above positions, please let your
respective graduation representative know via e-mail for department specific
positions such as class historian. For general positions, please e-mail the
grad director. The following is the grad committees contact info:
Grad Director - Felicia Chandrakumar- sfchandr at ucalgary.ca
Civil - Ray Peng - rpeng at ucalgary.ca

Chem - Rous Dieva - rpdieva at ucalgary.ca
Mech - Victoria Hardwicke-Brown - vchardwi at ucalgary.ca

More specific information will be given once people have volunteered. Also,
if you are interested but afraid to write your own speech...no worries!
There will be lots of people to help you. This is our last event before we
are done school, so get involved and make it an event to remember!
