The University of Calgary Bookstore is currently accepting applications for
its Book Loan Program.
The Book Loan Program has been offered since 2003 and in the past has
awarded 10 full-time undergraduate students loaned textbooks for an entire
academic year. This year, thanks to a Students' Union Quality Money grant,
the bookstore will be selecting 40 students in financial need to participate
in the program. The selected students receive all their course materials on
a loaned basis, and at the end of the semester can either return them or
purchase them at 50% of the original cost.
In order to qualify:
* Students must be registered as a full-time undergraduate student in
both the Fall and Winter sessions of the upcoming academic year.
* Students must present a minimum grade point average of over 2.60
over the past academic year.
* Applicants must have completed at least one year of studies at the
University of Calgary.
* Students must demonstrate financial need as outlined in the
application. Students should state how they have exhausted all other means
of funding, including student loans and employment opportunities.
The deadline for applications is September 30th, so there is plenty of time
to apply. The application, and further information about the program can be
found here: http://calgarybookstore.ca/bookloan.asp .
