Please note that the deadline to submit a Reappraisal of Final Grade for
the Fall term is March 1st.
Reappraisal forms can be found online at, www.ucalgary.ca/regsitrar, under
the heading 'Forms for Students'. Forms are to be submitted to the
Registrar's Office (MLB 117), by March 1st for the Fall term.
How do I appeal a final grade?
You should follow the university's procedure for Reappraisal (Page 50-51
of the 2007/2008 Calendar). You should arrange to get a copy of your exam
from the Undergraduate Studies Office (engineering courses only -- for
Amat, Math, Chem, complementary studies, etc., you have to go to the
appropriate faculty office). There is a charge of $4 (cash) per copy of
the exam, as long as you request it before we archive it at the end of the
term following the session in which the exam was written. We are not able
to show you the original exam at the counter. If there is a deferred exam
in the course, you will not be able to get the copy until after the
deferred exam has been written.
If you find a simple and obvious error in addition, you still need to
submit a request for reappraisal form. If you find an error in marking you
also fill out a "request for reappraisal" form, fill it out and hand it to
the Registrar's Office by the deadline date to be processed.
You must be specific about the location and the nature of the error, or
the request will not be processed. You must not approach the professor
directly and ask him/her to reappraise your exam or change your grade. A
grade change will only be approved if a "request for reappraisal" form has
been submitted and processed and the reappraisal has resulted in a change
of grade. Please be aware that a reappraisal may result in the grade being
raised, lowered, or remaining the same.
Students may request a reappraisal of final grade only twice in one
academic year.
