Here are a couple of excerpts from Seymour Schulich's new book. You
can get many more tips tomorrow at the noon hour event in Mac Hall --
hope to see you all there -- doors open at 11:30 am. Light lunch
provided. Students, faculty and staff all welcome.

The Schulich School of Engineering is named after Mr Schulich, one of
 Canada's few billionaires.

"If you learn nothing else from this book, the Decision-Maker will be
worth the cover price a thousand times over. I learned this tool in
a practical mathematics course more than 50 years ago and have used
it for virtually every major decision of my adult life. It has never
let me down and it will serve you well, too."

<< He explains the Decision-Maker formula in the first chapter. Books
will be for sale at the event tomorrow. There are several copies
circulating in the school if you can't afford to purchase a copy. >>

===============

"Business people have four enemies. Every fall from grace, every
personal crack- up or failure invariably can be traced back to one or
more of the following four causes:

1. EGO

2. GREED: The Aesop fable of the dog with a lamb chop who crosses a
log over a stream and sees his reflection. Thinking it’s a chance
to grab a second chop, the dog opens his mouth and lunges at the
mythically-reflected lamb chop. In the process, he drops the one he
has which the current sweeps away. His greed leaves him with nothing!

3. ALCOHOL/DRUGS: These two weaknesses or diseases destroy many an
 executive career.

4. SECRETARIES WITH BIG BREASTS: T They can destroy many careers,
fortunes, families, and marriages. The late, great Jimmy Goldsmith
(European financier) once said, “If you want to create a new job,
marry your mistress.” He should have known – he did this several
 times. "
