ATTENTION Third-Year Students ONLY:

I am pleased to invite you to hear about the Engineering Internship
Program. The “Introduction to Internship” sessions will be held on
Wednesday, Sept 13, 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. in ENA 201 OR Thursday, Sept 21,
6:00 - 7:00 p.m. in ENA 201. Please sign up here to attend one of the
first sessions: http://136.159.233.71/signups/login.cfm.. The rest of
the sessions will be confirmed shortly.

In 2006 we had a record placement of interns - over 300 students are
currently on internship. 10% of our interns are working internationally
– in Switzerland, Japan and the United States.

Our Internship Program has a specific purpose – to make you a “Superior
Graduate”. We have designed the program with deliverables to achieve
this purpose. Our goal is NOT simply to find you a job but to find
opportunities that will prepare you for the rest of your career. We have
on staff four professional engineers with industry experience to coach
you in achieving your goals.

The Engineering Internship Program continues to be very popular. Aside
from being the largest engineering internship program in the country, we
attract the highest participation of ANY voluntary program of its kind
in Canada.

• 99% of the students seeking Internship for 2006 were placed!
• There is NO quota for admission into the program.
• Overall participation in the program of qualified students is around
80%, and participation by qualified students with a GPA of 3.0 + is
around 90%.
• In 2006, 78% of the graduates with Distinction had participated in the
Internship Program.
• The typical salary of an intern is $2,800 – $4,200 per month. In 2006,
internship students will have collectively earned around $15M.

Qualifications for Internship:

- Successful completion of all your second-year core courses, with good
academic standing (GPA of 2.0).
- Be registered in all of your core third-year courses.
- Write a two-page application letter, outlining your reasons for
joining Internship. Attach this letter to your online registration form.
- Attend all of the Pre-Internship Course sessions.

If you have completed all of your second-year courses and are missing
fewer than two core third-year courses, or if you are on Academic
Probation and have met all of the requirements, please come in to
discuss your qualification.

All third-year engineering students should attend ONE of the two
"Introduction to Internship" presentations. We are expecting about 450
students to attend these sessions. Due to space and schedule
limitations, all sessions are offered twice - please register early.

After the first session, you will be able to apply to the program, and
schedule a personal strategic session with one of our advisors to
discuss your personal goals and objectives for internship.

If you have any questions, please stop by our office (ENC 118), or email
us at engineer at ucalgary.ca <mailto:engineer at ucalgary.ca>. Visit us
