Hi there,

I’m writing on behalf of the Canadian Society for the Study of Rhetoric (RhetCanada) to invite submissions for our 2026 Winter Showcase, a one-day online conference, which will be of interest to scholars and students in the fields of rhetoric, composition, writing, communication and English (among others!).

This online-only showcase will be held on January 17th, 2026, and will feature a day of “lightning” (10-12 min) presentations.

These can be either short conference papers (i.e., research, argument, or exposition papers) or more casual “Projects in Progress” updates that invite constructive criticism and discussion.

Acceptances will be released by November 21; a maximum of 18-20 papers will be selected. Presenters and attendees must be registered members of RhetCanada by the date of the showcase (https://rhetcanada.org/join-us).

RhetCanada is a warm and welcoming association, and a great place to meet other folks working at the intersection of rhetoric and many other fields (literature, medicine, law, pop culture, AI, etc.).

Our more traditional Summer Conference  will be held from May 26th to May 30th at St. Jerome’s University (University of Waterloo) in conjunction with the Canadian Association for the Study of Discourse and Writing and the Rhetoricon project.
