Dear Colleagues,

This is a reminder that the Carsey-Wolf Center at UC Santa Barbara is accepting proposals for its new research initiative, Media Industries and AI: Critical Research on Emerging Trends, led by Professors Jennifer Holt, Ross Melnick, and Lisa Parks. This initiative invites innovative proposals examining how artificial intelligence tools are reshaping the media industries, from production and creative labor to distribution and audience engagement.

Selected researchers will be invited to participate in two research presentations: a preliminary gathering in Spring 2026 and a final presentation in Fall 2027. Funding for projects will be in the $5,000–$15,000 range per project. Proposals are due September 15, 2025.

We encourage you to share and circulate this CFP with colleagues and networks who may be interested in applying.
