Dear CCA friends and colleagues,
It was wonderful to see many of you at the Université de Montréal and online this week for CCA24. As in previous years, everyone's papers and roundtable discussions were so strong and engaging, congratulations to all! As is the tradition, here is a roundup of our conference this year.


  *   The CCA annual conference showcased 242 papers, 66 panels, and 12 roundtables—and 349 presenters in total.
  *   I would like to extend, on behalf of everybody at CCA, our most sincere appreciation to Faiza Hirji, the Conference Chair and Vice-President, and Mark Lloyd, our Local Arrangements Coordinator for organizing the 2024 CCA with the many challenges that the change of location entailed
  *   Thank you all to those who came to the keynote address Thursday. Our keynote Lisa Parks was so pleased to reconnect with many of you and for your engaging questions after her talk
  *   Congratulations to all newly elected members of the Board: Dr. Nicole Cohen (Vice-president and Conference Chair) Dr. Crystal Chokshi and Dr. Kenneth Werbin (members-at-large); and graduate student representative Anurag. A big thank you to our outgoing Board members:  Dr. Anne MacLennan and Dr. Benjamin Woo (members-at-large). We thank you for your contributions to CCA over the past years

  *   Congratulations to all the nominees for the CCA Emerging Scholar Book Prize, and to this year’s prize winner, Dr. Lyndsey P. Beutin (McMaster) for Trafficking in Antiblackness: Modern-Day Slavery, White Indemnity, and Racial Justice (Duke University Press)
  *   CCA-CRTC Prize: Winner in the MA category: Christine Rose Cooling, York University for Cultural Policy as the Articulation of Cultural Hegemony: The Nationalist Dreams and Desires of Canada’s Online Streaming Act”; winner in the PhD category : Anurag, University of Calgary for “Silencing Bytes: An Investigation into the Intersection of Internet Shutdowns and Misinformation”
  *   Congress-CCA Graduate Merit Awards:  Maya Karanouh, Brock University for Decoding the Author in the Age of Generative AI: Copyright, Ethics, and Litigation and Alexandra Borkowski, York University, for Super(human) Radios: Vocal Fictions of the Séance
  *   CCA Outstanding Student Essay Prize: Leslie Salgado Arzuaga, University of Calgary, for "Democratizing the Technical Code: Recommendations on Public Engagement for Responsible AI in Canada
  *   Mahmoud Eid Graduate Prize to Leila Almawy, York University for Listed

CCA25 will be held at George Brown College in Toronto, the Conference committee hopes to see you next year again. As my term as President has come to an end, I wish the new CCA President, Faiza Hirji, and the new CCA Executive and Board every success in the years ahead.

Ce fut un plaisir de vous voir nombreux et nombreuses à l'Université de Montréal et en ligne cette semaine pour l'ACC24. Comme les années précédentes, les présentations de chacun étaient excellentes et engageantes. Comme le veut la tradition, voici un résumé de notre conférence de cette année.


  *   Le colloque annuel a compté 242 communications, 66 panels et 12 tables rondes, et un total de 349 participant.e.s.
  *   Je tiens à exprimer, en notre nom à tous, notre profonde gratitude à Faiza Hirji, organisatrice de la conférence et vice-présidente, et à Mark Lloyd, coordinateur des arrangements locaux, pour leur incroyable dévouement et leurs efforts méticuleux dans l’organisation de l’ACC24.
  *   Nous remercions chaleureusement la professeure Lisa Parks d’avoir prononcé la conférence plénière de 2024

L’ACC2025 se tiendra au George Brown College, à Toronto. Mon mandat de président de l’ACC arrivant à son terme, je souhaite à la nouvelle présidente de l'ACC, Faiza Hirji, ainsi qu'au nouveau conseil d'administration de l'ACC, beaucoup de succès pour les années à venir.
