On September 21-22, 2023 Mapping Ontario's Black Archives (MOBA) will present our inaugural two-day speaker series and creative showcase, Artists and Archivists in Dialogue, featuring artists, scholars, and performers. Day One (September 21) will be held at Toronto Metropolitan University<https://www.torontomu.ca/content/dam/maps/pdf/campus_map.pdf>, International Living/Learning Centre (ILC) and Day Two (September 22, 2023) will be held at the Tranzac Club<https://www.tranzac.org/>. We would be delighted if you would join us for this exciting two-day multidisciplinary extravaganza featuring presentations and performances, and topics that bring Black history, community, artistic practice, and the archive into conversation. At the end of Day Two, presenters and attendees will get a preview of MOBA's digital platform that will make Ontario's Black archival collections searchable, and publicly accessible. ABOUT MOBA:

This project, funded by an Ontario Early Researcher Award, has as its goal the building of digital infrastructure that will increase the visibility and discoverability of Black archives in Ontario. The project is led by Dr. Cheryl Thompson, Associate Professor, Performance at The Creative School, TMU. Dr. Thompson is MOBA's director and creative lead. MOBA is the major research project managed by The Laboratory for Black Creativity (The LBC<https://www.theblackcreativelab.ca/>), which is composed of Dr. Thompson and five team members (Dr. Karen Cyrus; Lucy Wowk; Mel Racho, Megan Judd; and Enna Kim).
