INVITATION – Journal Review Committee

In October 2020, J-Schools Canada/ Écoles-J Canada will launch the first submission call for our new peer-reviewed online journal, Facts and Frictions: Emerging Debates, Pedagogies and Practices in Contemporary Journalism.

We are seeking members for a review committee, which will be tasked with conducting reviews and/or finding appropriate reviewers for submitted articles.

This is an excellent opportunity to provide national-level service and keep abreast of new research. We invite expressions of interest from potential review committee members.

Qualifications include:

  * Current expertise in journalism and journalism education

  *   A record of peer-reviewed publications

  * Graduate degree in a relevant field

  * Past experience as a peer reviewer preferred but not required (mentorship available)

Committee members will work collectively to develop and promote submission calls. They will short-list submitted articles, with a target of 8 to 10 articles to be selected annually to reach the peer review stage. Each committee member will help choose appropriate reviewers and guide the review process for one or more of the short-listed articles. The Committee term will be two years.

Members will be provided with formal letters of appointment for inclusion in their faculty performance reviews and tenure applications.

To apply to sit on the review committee, please send a brief email introduction and a copy of your CV (including publications list) by Sept. 30 to Patricia Elliott, Facts & Frictions coordinator, at patricia.elliott at uregina.ca<mailto:patricia.elliott at uregina.ca> with cc. to jschoolscanada at gmail.com<mailto:jschoolscanada at gmail.com>
