Lisa Osbeck has recently published ?Science as Psychology? with Nancy Nersession, Kareen Malone and Wendy Newstetter (Cambridge University Press). Psychological Studies of Science: Who, How, What, and Why. 3:30 PM, AD 247 Lisa Osbeck, Ph.D. Professor of Psychology University of West Georgia & Visiting Scholar Science, Technology, and Society Program, University of Michigan. The talk will provide an overview of psychology?s contributions to the interdisciplinary field of science studies, including the history and contemporary organization of these contributions. With reference to exemplary studies, including my own ethnographic work in biomedical engineering laboratories, I will consider how psychology enhances an understanding of science and how investigations of science enrich psychology. I will also examine a set of controversies accompanying the psychological study of science that are in some ways representative of larger tensions within the discipline of psychology, including what is to be counted as legitimately empirical From ereshefs at ucalgary.ca Mon Oct 19 08:29:02 2015 From: ereshefs at ucalgary.ca (ereshefs@ucalgary.ca) Date: Mon Oct 19 08:29:11 2015 Subject: Historical Investigations in Science Conference Message-ID: <84cb50da895429d7392d22d491838872.squirrel@webmail.ucalgary.ca> Philosophers and scientists gather at the University of Calgary to discuss the nature of historical investigation in science, October 23 and 24.
