[ENCI-l] Troitsky Bridge Building Competition 2021 Executive Team Application

The UofC’s Troitsky Bridge Building Team is on the lookout for the executive team for Troitsky 2021-2022. The Troitsky Bridge Building Competition is an event hosted by the University of Concordia in Montreal, Quebec. Every year in March, Universities from across Canada compete to build the most efficient bridge design within the allowed dimensions. The competition encourages innovation by restricting the bridge to be constructed only out of popsicle sticks, white glue, and dental floss. We aren’t talking about small bridges which you can pick up with one hand, we are talking about massive bridges over a meter long, weighing 6 kilograms. In addition to traveling to Montreal at a subsidized fee, this is a great leadership opportunity to be on the executive team and take on leadership roles while developing teamwork skills and applying classroom knowledge in a practical situation. Not only does this look great on a resume, it is a great talking point during interviews.



The duties for each of these roles are as follows:

  *   Project Manager
     *   Sets out expectations and keeps Team on track to meet deadlines
     *   Conduct Team meetings and presentations
     *   Takes lead position on the SSAF reports
     *   Motivates entire team and sets high standards
  *   Project Coordinator
     *   Communicates with Montreal team to coordinate deadlines and payments
     *   Completes progress reports for the team
     *   Communicates with faculty staff and lab coordinators to provide a workplace for participants in order to construct the bridges
     *   Responsible for the budget of the competition

  *   Logistics Manager
     *   Responsible for booking flights/hotels
     *   Manages the budget and ensures that costs can be covered
     *   Work alongside the communication executive for sponsorship fundings

  *   Communication Executive
     *   Will take the lead for sponsorship packages
     *   Prepare informative presentations about the competition and the expectations from each group member
     *   Communicates with team members and keep them in the loop with any updates regarding the competition

*Note: All Execs need to participate in the competition and must be enrolled as a student in an undergraduate engineering program at the University of Calgary
