[Students in Civil Engineering Undergraduate Program]

Welcome back. The Department of Civil Engineering faculty and staff are thrilled to be resuming classes for the fall term, including a mixture of online and some in-person instruction. 

Many students are asking if our homerooms will be open for studying and gathering in this fall. Due to COVID-19, we have had to make a number of changes to reflect new health protocols. Out of an abundance of caution, all homerooms will remain closed within the Schulich School of Engineering. There will still be some study spaces within our buildings, including in our engineering student lounge and open areas in our G-block.  

In the shift to remote learning, our school remains focused on supporting your student experience. The Engineering Student Centre and Engineering Career Centre will continue to provide advising through our virtual advising <http://em.ucalgary.ca/y4jOXAG80G0KNL93eV00100>. Faculty and staff are also working to identify resources to further support your learning, including remote access to software for your classes and ways to continue makerspace operations safely. As soon as details are confirmed they will be shared.

This isn’t a typical start to the new year. Safety and providing a high-quality education remain top priorities. Thank you for all that you are doing as a student to protect your own health and the health of our campus community.
