[ENCI-l] A new TE course (ENPE 519.11) in Fall 2020

Dear 4th year students,
I would like to draw your attention to a new course being offered by CPE – ENPE 519.11: Machine Learning for Energy Systems. The course will start with an introduction to Python and Machine Learning and then will apply these techniques to examples in energy. The only pre-reqs are basic programming (ENGG 233 and ENGG 407 or equivalent) and math (MATH 375 or equivalent). This course is offering in Fall 2020.
ENPE 519.11 / ENCH 619.78 (Fall 2020)
Machine Learning for Energy Systems
Topics: Applications of Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence and Optimization in Energy Systems. Review of Statistics, Probability and Data Science Concepts; Supervised and Unsupervised Learning in Python including Regression and Clustering; Data Engineering for Data Filtering and Feature Selection; Optimization. Focus on Application to Problems in the Energy Industry.
Course Hours: 3-1
Lecture Times: 1:00 – 1:50 PM on Mon, Weds, Fri
Tutorials: 2:00 – 2:50 PM on Weds
Please note that you can register one TE course outside department as a TE course of Group B. If you are interested in registering this course, please email me (jianhe at ucalgary.ca<mailto:jianhe at ucalgary.ca>) with your name and UCID to request permission to register in ENPE 519.11. You will be notified by the Engineering Student Centre once permission has been posted to your account and you will be able to register for the course.
