[ENCI-l] UPDATED - CSCE Popsicle Stick Bridge Competition 2019

[Students in Civil Engineering Undergraduate Program]

Hey Civils!

The Canadian Society for Civil Engineering (CSCE) is having its 2019 annual Popsicle Stick Bridge Competition. **As a correction to the previous email sent out, the date and time of the competition held in Heritage Hall at SAIT is still TBA.** This competition is open to students of all years.

Teams of 4 can register to compete with a $20 deposit on a first come first serve basis. A maximum of 15 teams are able to register and the $20 deposit will be reimbursed with the submission of the bridge AND the attendance of at least one team member at the dinner. All team members are required to have a CSCE Student Membership which can be obtained for free here: https://csce.ca/en/membership/edi/.

Student registration and kits can be purchased in front of the civil homerooms, ENF 325, during the following times:


  *   October 24 from 1 PM - 3 PM
  *   October 25 from 11 AM - 2 PM

There will be potential monetary prizes for the top teams. Students in ENCI 461 or ENCI 551 may also get up to a 5% bonus in marks.

In addition to the bridge building experience, this competition is also a great way to network with industry professionals and your professors.
