Hello graduating engineering students!

I know there has been an overwhelming amount of information about graduation recently, so here is a checklist that will hopefully clarify things:

Graduation Banquet Tickets
Tickets are available for purchase until Friday, February 26, at 3pm. This banquet takes place at the Hyatt following the Iron Ring Ceremony on March 19. Fill out this link to reserve your tickets, and pay in the ESS office with cash or cheque.

Hotel Rooms
Hotel rooms at the Hyatt can be booked under our group booking with the following link. The cost starts at $119 per room.

Apply to Speak at the Graduation Banquet
We're looking for volunteers to fill the following positions:
-Master of Ceremonies (1 guy and 1 girl, apply together please!)
-Toast to the Parents
-Toast to the Professors
-Toast to the Volunteers
If you are interested in any of the above positions, email ssegrad2016 at gmail.com<mailto:ssegrad2016 at gmail.com> with your name and desired position by February 28, at 5pm.

Student Awards
Nominate an outstanding graduating student for one of the three available awards. They are:
-Student of the Year (to the most well-rounded student)
-Golden Geer (for outstanding engineering spirit)
-Donna Geekie (for strong leadership)
Applications are in the ESS office and on D2L, and the deadline is Tuesday, March 1.

Professor Awards
Nominate an outstanding professor in your department for one of 5 Teaching Excellence awards. Again, applications are in the ESS office, and online, and the deadline is Tuesday, March 1.

After Party
Following the Graduation Banquet there will be an after-party at Knoxvilles! Each ticket bought for the Graduation Banquet comes with a free ticket for the after party. These can be picked up in the ESS office starting February 29, or at the banquet.

Grad Gift
This year's grad gift is a vinyl portfolio that will have you looking snazzy as you enter the workforce. They can be purchased for $25 in the ESS office until Friday, February 26, at 3pm.

Yearbook
The deadline to put down a deposit to reserve a yearbook has passed, but don't worry, we have ordered extra copies. Stop by the table at convocation (June 7) and pick up your yearbook. If you put down a deposit you are guaranteed to get one (and your deposit back), and if not, you can still get one until they are gone.

Everything just mentioned is done through the Engineering Students' Society. but there are still a few more things that you need to make sure you do.


Apply for the Iron Ring Ceremony
The deadline has actually passed to apply for the Iron Ring Ceremony... Talk to the ladies in the Engineering Student Centre and there is a small possibility they can help you out (no guarantees).

Apply for Graduation
At the university level you need to apply for graduation for it to all be official. This is done on your Student Centre and the deadline is March 31.

Apply for Convocation
If you want to walk across the stage and receive your degree on June 7, make sure you apply for convocation. This is also done on your Student Centre and the deadline is also May 19. There is a required $40 rental fee for your cap and gown.

Check Your Graduation/ Convocation Status
Your graduation/ convocation status will change in May, when your final grades are in and the Faculty Review Committee meets. You can check your status in your Student Centre.
