Hello all Schulich Engineers!

After 8 and 1Ž2 glorious years as the Director of Students, I am stepping down effective December 31st and handing the reigns over to Dr. Arin Sen, who will become the new Associate Dean for Student Professional Development. I know that Dr. Sen will do a tremendous job as ADSPD and will continue to build our student support and experiences through stewardship of the Schulich Student Activity Fund (which he will chair), the Maier Student Leadership Program (which he will now lead), Homes of Hope trips and support of the many clubs, teams and associations, as well as many other activities.

When I became the Director of Students in 2006, then Dean and now President Dr. Elizabeth Cannon and I had no idea whatsoever the impact on having a Director devoted to Student Experiences would be, but I think the idea proved to be a good one! I personally had no hint of what was coming my way and it has been the most tremendous ride imaginable! Working with all of our students to make them feel comfortable and confident in their journey through the Schulich School of Engineering, getting to know the leaders of tomorrow, and learning from each and everyone of you, every step of the way has been the job of my lifetime!

Thank-you to everyone who dropped by my door, said hello in the hallways, took my business card (whether you wanted it or not during FacOR) and brought me your great ideas. I will be on leave until July, but will be in and out of the school during the winter term.

For those you celebrating Christmas and Chanukah, I hope you find comfort in the lessons and stories of holy birth and magical oil: for everyone, regardless of your faith and/or persuasion, I hope that during this darkest and coldest time of the year, you can find comfort and warmth with friends and family – and of course, some food, fun and good times.

Thank-you to everyone,

Dr. Lynne
