Southern Alberta Section, and other Transportation Professionals and
Students:
*The next monthly luncheon meeting is as follows:*
*TOPIC**:* *Key Principles for Designing Transit Friendly
Communities*
*SPEAKERS**: **Neil McKendrick, Manager of Operational Transit Planning,
City of Calgary*
In 1975, Neil began his career in transportation planning. He started with
a consulting firm in southern Ontario and then moved to a land use planning
office in Ottawa. In 1980 he came west to The City of Calgary as a
transportation planner and then joined Calgary Transit in 1984. As a
transit planner his work started with transit data collection, market
research and performance evaluation and he migrated to bus and LRT planning
where he was involved with developing long range transit networks, planning
transit facilities, LRT expansion and the implementation of new bus and BRT
services. Now, as manager of Operational Transit Planning, Neil oversees
planning for Calgary Transit services, transit priority and performance
monitoring.
