Dear engineering students,

We invite you to apply for the prestigious 2012 ConocoPhillips Canada
Centennial Scholarship. 

Eligibility. You must satisfy the following conditions in order to be
considered: 

.         Be enrolled in a first bachelor degree program;

.         Be a Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident of Canada;

.         Have earned a minimum GPA of 3.00 on at least 24.00 units (8
courses) over the Fall 2011/Winter 2012 terms;

.         Submission of the application form, reference letters, and a
250-word essay (please see guidelines and application for details).

Engineering students may be nominated  for the award as follows:

.         One candidate enrolled in the BSc. in Chemical engineering with
minor in Petroleum engineering

.         One candidate enrolled in the BSc. in Mechanical engineering with
minor in Petroleum engineering.  [Note:  Important information for
Mechanical EN students in, or applying for, the Petroleum Minor in Fall 2012
-  is included at the end of this message]

.         One candidate pursuing environmental/sustainable development
studies;

.         One candidate in any field of study or discipline.

Evaluation will be assessed on the following areas:

*	Academic performance;
*	Volunteer/community involvement and/or extracurricular activities;
*	Quality of the reference letters.

Application form and guidelines for the 2012 ConocoPhillips Canada
Centennial Scholarship Program are now available on the University's Awards
website under 'Featured Awards' (

Student Awards Office administers this award and there is an internal
selection process for nominating the most deserving students. The
Application Form as well as the Program Guidelines have been revised to
reflect the internal administrative procedures. 

Deadline:  Applicants are asked to submit their completed application
packages to ENROLMENT SERVICES by Friday, May 18, 2012.

IMPORTANT INFO for Mechanical EN students in, or applying for, the Petroleum
Minor in Fall 2012 - regarding eligibility to apply for the 2012
ConocoPhillips Canada Centennial Scholarship.

We realize that you will not know before May 18th whether  you have been
admitted into the Petroleum Minor if you are only applying in April 2012.
Our office cannot normally deal with the minor selection until late May;
however, we are willing to work closely with Students Awards Office to help
you/them meet the deadlines.  If you have applied for the Petroleum Minor
and are also applying for this award, you should follow the application
process as outlined on the link above by the May 18th deadline.  Please
place a note on your application, just as a reminder for the Awards Office,
to follow up with the EN Undergrad Office regarding Petroleum Minor
placement to determine if you are eligible for this award.  Our office will
know both the Fall 2011 and Winter 2012  final grades and the list of
applied students for the Petroleum Minor. We will cross reference and
confirm with the Student Awards Office whether the nominated applicants will
be admitted into the Petroleum Minor.
