Tuesday, Feb 28th: Global Engineering Speaker Series Presents Marielle
Flottat
We are proud to present Marielle Flottat as our upcoming Global Engineering
Lecturer for the winter semester of the 2011/2012 Academic Year.
Marielle is a Project Engineer of Alberta Pipeline Projects at TransCanada
Corporation. She has just returned from fellowship with EWB in Ghana working
with the School Board. The focus of her lecture will be on "Engineers in
Society: Pursuing complex international challenges". The goal of this topic
is to define how individuals can contribute positively to society,
internationally by understanding the industries, sectors, governments, and
the people they are connected to.
The lecture will be taking place on TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 28, 2012 from
5:00-6:00pm in Room ICT 114. The Lecture will also include a Question &
Answer session following the presentation. Please note that free appetizers
and refreshments will be served, and of course, everyone is invited!!!
The world today is facing major challenges, but is also on the forefront of
major change. Many of the glaring social hurdles the world faces today,
such as food security, access to clean water, and extreme global poverty,
have become incredibly complex and interconnected. These problems are not
new, and neither are the approaches global society has to solve them. Come
and explore what it means to be a Global Engineer in the 21st century.
