Funded research opportunity at MSc level with thesis option at the Dept.
of Geomatics Engineering/Centre for Environmental Engineering Research and
Education, University of Calgary

Dr. Quazi K. Hassan (the lead researcher of the Earth Observation for
Environment Laboratory) is looking for MSc (thesis based) students 
starting from Fall 2011. The requirements are as follows:

1. keen in taking research in addressing environmental issues, such as,
vegetation phenological modelling (i.e., the influence of climate on
vegetation) and forest fire prediction primarily using optical and thermal
remote sensing data.

2. minimum CGPA of 3.0 for the last 20 courses (that's the minimum
admission requirement at the University)

3. good at critical thinking and capable of developing algorithms.

Note that significant financial support will be provided. And also part of
the MSc study time will be counted towards PEng status across Canada.
