TO ALL FIRST AND SECOND YEAR ENGG STUDENTS:
First and Second Year Teaching Excellence Awards
Don't skip class the week of February is week! Members from ESS will be
visiting your lecture to conduct polling for the best Teaching Profs, and
every vote counts!
What you should know:
1) We'll be asking you to put down your top 3 profs (in order) from last
semester and this semester.
2) Don't limit your choices to ENGG profs (choose any prof who taught you a
REQUIRED course - MATH/AMAT/PHYS/CHEM/ etc etc)
3) We'll pass out the ballots and an envelope. Once you've finished filling
in your ballot put it in the envelope.
Criteria for The Engineering Students' Society First and Second Year
Teaching Excellence Awards: The awardees are not limited to faculty members
or sessional instructors in the Schulich School of Engineering. However,
they must instruct a course that engineering students in first or second
year are required to take.
Criteria for the Rookie of the Year Award: The Engineering Students' Society
Rookie of the Year Award is given annually to a student who is in his or her
first year of school at the Schulich School of Engineering. The award is
given to a student who has shown outstanding leadership and engineering
spirit.
Engineering spirit is defined as demonstrating team work, attending
engineering events and displaying outstanding enthusiasm for engineering.
Nomination forms for Rookie of the Year are available in the ESS office or
online at <http://ess.ucalgary.ca/> ess.ucalgary.ca. Nominations will be
due March 8th, 2011.
Presentation of Awards
The awards shall be announced and presented during the First and Second Year
Dinner, which is on March 30th, 2011 at The Fairmont Palliser. A plaque goes
to each of the professors and Rookie of the Year.
