Beta Testers Needed for Physics 259
Do you remember the heady days of "Electricity and Magnetism"? I'm sure you
never felt so lost and delirious, though unfortunately not in a good way I
suspect.
Well here is your chance to give back. Engineering and Physics are
collaborating on putting a concentrated effort to really improve on the
content and delivery of the course, and part of that involves a complete
revamp of the labs. They are going to a 'labatorial' model, which in a
nutshell combines the experience of labs and tutorials.
Where do you come in? We are in serious need of some Dilberts and (?the
other character?) to do some beta-testing on the brand-spanking-new labs
(there are 12 of them). We are asking for some volunteers to work through
the new labs and give us their feedback. There will be three sessions (4
labs running simultaneously) in the near future (late Oct, mid Nov, early
Dec), and we would like about 12-16 people per session (3-4 people per lab
group), and each session will be about 2-3hrs. And no, there won't be any
prep work or pre-lab experience; you just have to show up and perform.
Of course, we're not expecting you do this out of the deep affection you
hold for Physics, and the kindness of your heart. Every participant will
receive a gift card worth $50 at the bookstore, and you are more than
welcome to do more than one session.
If you are interested in being a participant, please email Dr. Mike Potter
at mpotter at ucalgary.ca and he will create a list. He is looking for the
following information at this time:
Name
Email
Best time in the week to participate (e.g. Mon or Weds 4-7pm)
Then expect to be contacted in the near future to see when you might
participate.
Please help us in this worthwhile endeavour,
