Below is a message about the new Interim Dean of the Schulich School  
of Engineering. Please feel free to circulate. We warmly welcome Dr  
Mehrotra to this role.

I write today to let you know that Anil Mehrotra, a professor in the  
Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering in the Schulich  
School of Engineering, has generously agreed to serve as Interim Dean  
of the Schulich School, effective July 1, 2010, for a one-year term.

Anil, who is currently the Director of the Centre for Environmental  
Engineering Research and Education in the Schulich School of  
Engineering, has won several awards for his abilities as a teacher.   
He is a skilled administrator, team- builder, and well-respected  
research leader with a strong environmental engineering interest.  He  
is a fellow of the Chemical Institute of Canada (CIC), and a fellow  
of Engineers Canada, and the recipient of numerous teaching and  
service awards, including Summit Awards from APEGGA.  His research  
interests include the thermodynamic and transport properties of  
bitumens from the oil-sand deposits in Alberta, and remediation of  
contaminated soils.

The need for an interim Dean arises, of course, from the appointment  
of Elizabeth Cannon as the next president of the University of Calgary.
