Attention all engineering students:
It's March, which means that it's time for March Madness! No, this isn't
where we all go crazy from midterm stress, but where we actually take a
break from schoolwork and have a little friendly competition to raise money
for a great cause. March Madness is the annual NCAA (American University)
College Basketball Tournament, and you are invited to join a sports pool to
predict the winners in order to raise money for the Red Cross relief effort
in Haiti.
Students pay $10 to join the pool and ALL entry fees are donated to the Red
Cross. You will receive instructions on how to join the online pool. Once
you have joined, you can make your selections for the winning teams. Points
are awarded based on how many of your predictions come true, and the three
students with the most points at the end of the tournament will each win a
prize donated by the Chemical and Oil & Gas Engineering Students' Society
(valued between $25-$50). No knowledge of college basketball or sports in
general is needed to participate!
What: March Madness Sports Pool Fundraiser
When: Sign up between March 8-15 in the ESS Office
Why: Donate money to a worthy cause and you could win!!!
Cost: $10 (donated to the Red Cross)
If you have any questions, please email Brett Willms (bkwillms at ucalgary.ca)
