Dear Engineering Students,
Our firm is interested in participating in Canstruction 2010, a very
interesting charitable event in which teams build structures out of canned
food and other non-perishable items. The theme this year is "Let the Games
Begin", offering the chance to build a structure with a boardgame, Olympic
moment or other game related idea in mind. More information can be found on
the website, www.canstructioncalgary.com.
As part of the requirements to enter, each team must have an engineer on the
team to help with the design of the structure. We have checked with the
organizing committee and they are very receptive to the idea of using
students to fulfill that requirement.
Our firm is interested in coordinating efforts with the UofC Faculty of
Engineering to enter a team. The firm will cover all costs associated with
the entry forms and the project itself. We are looking for a few dedicated
students who would be interested in participating in this worthwhile - and
fun - event!
The actual day of construction is Thursday, February 25, 2010. The judging
and awards party is the next day, and the structures will be on display to
the public for a week afterwards. Leading up to the event the students would
need to be available for meetings in order to plan and design the structure.
If any of the students from the faculty are interested, please contact me at
the phone number or email address below. The deadline for entry is December
11, 2009, so there is some urgency in terms of receiving a response.
Thank you very much for your attention and we hope we can build a team
together!
