Thank you to all engineering staff, faculty and students for responding
quickly to yesterday’s evacuation of our buildings. The order to evacuate
was taken as a precaution after an incident outside the CCIT High Bay.
One of our researchers was taken to hospital for observation after
inhaling hydrogen sulfide. Workplace Health and Safety as well as Alberta
Environment were contacted as per university protocol, and an
investigation by the University’s Environment, Health and Safety team is
ongoing. The air quality in our buildings has been tested, and has been
deemed safe by the Calgary Fire Department.
