[Engg-enci-l] Suncor - Fort McMurray field trip, July 5th and 6th

Hello Everyone,

This is an announcement informing all staff and students (undergrads and
grads) in the Schulich School of Engineering that there are openings on an
over-night field trip to Suncor in Fort McMurray on July 5th and 6th.

This trip is organised by the graduate students' association from the
chemical engineering department (CPEG) but in an effort to fill the bus,
students from all departments are now welcome. If you are interested in
registering hurry as spots are limited. Please make a $50 deposit with
Nashaat (CPEG secretary) to secure your spot. He is located in office
D203H. All reservations must be made prior to Friday, June 30th. The
remaining $100 payment must also be made prior to Friday, June 30th. The
total cost for the trip is therefore $150, but all meals are included!.

CPEG EVENT:  Trip to SUNCOR, Fort McMurray

DATE:  Wednesday and Thursday, July 5th & 6th, 2006

EVENT TIME: 6:00 am (returning Thursday at 10:00 pm)

MEETING PLACE: The North side of the Olympic Oval, at 6:00 am

COST: $150

MEALS & ACCOMMODATIONS:  To Be Provided

REGISTRATION:  with Nashaat (office D203H)

This 2-day trip will consist of a visit to the Discovery Centre (July
5th), which is located across from the Sawridge Inn where we will be
staying. There we will see the evolution of Oil Sands and an
overall appreciation of the petroleum industry.

The following morning we will visit the Suncor site. The tour itinerary
for July 6th will look something like this:

Depart Sawridge Hotel at 9 a.m. (Diversified bus and Suncor tour guide to
meet group at Sawridge hotel)

Arrive at Suncor 9:45 a.m.

SB OPP's 10:00 a.m.

Steepbank Mine Complex 10:15 a.m. (visit truck shop PPE free line and
mine overview, photo opp by cat 797 tire)

Extraction 11:00 a.m. (Extraction overview by Millennium OPP's)

Upgrading 11:30 a.m.

Lunch 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. (Borealis Lodge - food line-up)

Depart Suncor 1:00 p.m.

Arrive at Sawridge 1:45 p.m.

Depart for Calgary 2:00 p.m.

The General Manager for the In-situ recovery operations may also come to
site to give a presentation to the group.
