CIM is sponsoring a technical talk on "Sub-surface Risk Assessment for
In-situ Oil Sands Projects" on November 16th. The presenter, Bob Pearson,
P. Eng., is President and Chief Petroleum Engineer of APA Petroleum
Engineering Inc., a Calgary-based Petroleum Engineering Consulting firm.
He is an excellent speaker and we encourage all students to attend.

About the Speaker
Bob Pearson, P. Eng., is President and Chief Petroleum Engineer of APA
Petroleum Engineering Inc., a Calgary-based Petroleum Engineering
Consulting firm. From 1970 to 1980, he worked for Shell International and
from 1980 to 1982 for Petro-Canada. Over the last 23 years with APA, he
has acted as a lead consultant on projects in Canada, the US and overseas.
He has lead multi-disciplined subsurface teams performing resource and
performance audits on a number of major conventional oil and gas and heavy
oil developments. His heavy oil experience includes work in Albania,
California, China, Kazakhstan, West Africa and Venezuela, as well as SAGD
projects in N.E. Alberta. He is a member of the COGEH Vol.#3 Committee
working on the Reserves Definition & Guidelines for In-Situ Recovery of
Bitumen through the SPEE. He has been a Distinguished Lecturer for both
the Petroleum Society of CIM in Canada and for the Society of Petroleum
Engineers in the US.
