Ph.D. in Network Music Performance
Syneme-Asia @ Central Conservatory of Music (CCOM)
Beijing, China
Professor Ken Fields

Network Music Performance (NMP) is an area of study that focuses on various music practices that occur on networks.
The focus of this degree will be to explore advanced applications of live, interactive music performances on
high-speed research networks. A critical mass of literature and documented practice now allows us to support this degree
which will be issued by CCOM with the support of a global academic Network of Advisers.

There will be a one year residency requirement in Beijing to establish a solid basis in project and research praxis,
after which time the student will defend a research proposal. If successful, the student will have the option to implement the
project/thesis on the network from any high-speed node of access - from another university. Email synemeasia at gmail.com for
application and funding opportunities.

Application Deadline for September: May 31st, 2013.
