If you felt this (or at least one of these sensations), you were probably experiencing flow, a holistic experience of intense engagement with an activity. This creative state of flow is important for musicians so there is a need to understand the behaviours that may contribute to experiencing it as these may help to optimize practice and performance. In the research that I am conducting, I am investigating the relationships between musical practice behaviours and the likelihood of flow occurring. I want to establish the key factors in creating flow states in musical practice. This survey is part of my on-going doctoral research at the University of Aveiro, Portugal, under the supervision of Prof. Helena Marinho and Prof. Susan Hallam. I am currently collecting responses from a range of performing musicians, including higher education students and professional players, and I?m writing to ask: ? Anyone who is an active musician to complete the survey, please (LINK BELOW) ? If there is anyone who is associated with institutions or groups that include musicians, for instance, orchestras, bands, etc please would you forward on my request. ? And, if you have friends or colleagues who are active instrumentalists, please forward the email/link to them. It only takes about 10 minutes to complete the survey. The information I collect will be confidential and the analysis will ensure that no individual can be identified. Those interested in the results of this project may contact me via email: marcosaraujo@ua.pt Your participation in the survey is crucial. You will be helping develop this new measure of practice behaviours in higher education musicians and professionals Please access the following link, or copy and paste it into your browser. http://questionarios.ua.pt/index.php/589964/lang-en Thank you very much!
