Listening to Electroacoustic Music: Beyond Structural Approaches.

- Are you a tertiary music educator working in the field of electroacoustic music?
- Do you have an academic interest in the education of tertiary students in the field of electroacoustic music?
- Do you have an academic interest in the way in which we listen to electroacoustic music or the way in which it is taught at tertiary institutions?
- Are you someone who has an academic interest in listening to electroacoustic music?

I am a PhD student at the University of Western Sydney. My research proposes to analyse the ways in which listeners are trained to listen to electroacoustic music. It seeks to understand how the dominant listening models used by music educators in tertiary music institutions might shape listeners’ dispositions to electroacoustic music.

Your voluntary participation in the research will involve the completion of a short survey (attached). The survey is short and should take a maximum of 30 minutes to complete. Upon completion of this survey you may be asked to participate in an in-depth interview.

Once you have completed the survey, click the submit button (instructions included in the attachment) and email the survey back to me at michelle.stead at uws.edu.au

Please refer to the attached survey and information statement for more details. Alternatively, if you have any questions/concerns send me an email.

Kindest Regards,
Michelle Stead
