The first international EMSAN symposium took place under the auspices of CEMC during the 2008 Musicacoustica Festival in Beijing. It has been very successful in attracting composers and researchers from across East Asia. As a follow up, this year's CEMC/EMSAN Day will take place on Octobre 28, 2009, during Beijing's Musicacoustica Festival. As was discussed in 2008, an important item on EMSAN's agenda is the publication of research. The topic of this year's meeting will be: Publication of research on Asian electroacoustic music - history, practices and esthetical trends Following the meetings during the EMS conference in Paris and the CMEC/EMSAN Day in Beijing, EMSAN is now engaged in preparing two publications. The first project is a book on the history, trends and esthetics of electroacoustic music in East Asia. The collective book will be published in the USA in the EMF Media (Electronic Music Foundation) collection of which I am the director with Joel Chadabe. The second project would be to prepare articles for a professional journal about East Asian EA music (with the possibility of sound examples). Ken Fields and I would serve as co-editors. For these two important projects, we need to lay the groundwork of the contents and the structure. There will soon be messages with additional information about the meeting. The CMEC/EMSAN Day 2009 will also be the occasion to present and discuss the progress of EMSAN (and particularly the database in Taiwan) and of LABs (in Korea and in Japan). Please reserve the date of Octobre 28 for the CEMC/EMSAN Day. Thank you.
