Hey folks,

The noon hour lecture for Feb. 16 is titled "Sheep Happens: A Faunal
Approach to Foodways at Casa de Moneda (Mint House), Mexico City" and the
speaker is Angelica Lopez-Forment. As usual, it's in ES 859 from 12-1pm.

Abstract:
"The social variability in colonial Mexico was not just defined by race or
identity; economical means as well as foodways were powerful social
markers that bound who ate what and how. Through the analysis of faunal
remains recovered at the first Mint House in America, new information has
been obtained on how the colonial inhabitants of New Spain ate and what
species they favored, shedding a different perspective on the old question
are we what we eat?"

See you there!
