** IMPORTANT DEADLINE **
The deadline for abstract submissions for the 2010 Chacmool Conference is
October 11th, 2010. Abstracts should be approximately 150 words and
emailed to chacmool2010 at gmail.com

Time is running out so be sure to send in those abstracts and get your
research some attention! Check out the conference website here:

1. The Noon Hour Lecture Series continues. Dr. Peter Dawson will talk this
Wednesday, October 6 at 12 pm in ES 859 on “Inveniam viam aut faciam”:
Using 3D Laser Scanning to Digitally Capture Fort Conger, a Historic
Arctic Exploration Base on Ellesmere Island, Nunavut, Canada. If you would
like to volunteer to bring treats for 20-30 people, sign-up is outside of
our office on our bulletin board. There are various weeks available and
this counts as 2 volunteer hours (I mentioned this already... get
something to put on your resume, people!)


2. Chacmool is having a joint meeting with the Classics Student Society
and the History Students Association on October 6th in Cassio A/B. It will
start around 4:30 pm and representatives from all three clubs will be
present. This is a great chance to get out and meet people from other
departments with similar interests and have a good time. There will be
food/snacks so check it out.


3. On October 13th at 6 pm in ES 859, we'll be showing "Bubba Ho-Tep" for
movie night. Come out, get your mind of midterms for a few hours and have
some popcorn.
