Hello Friends and Family!
I am giving a talk titled "Exploring the Math of Awesome Reversible Knitting" and I'd love it if you could attend!
When: Friday, November 29, 9.30am MST
Where: Zoom link https://zoom.us/j/93547514063?pwd=sKF0yrP7Uj0RqsnYsyjz7VbUgqeBNK.1
How did this come about?
As you know I have been knitting for many years, and after I retired I started a YouTube channel to share reversible knitting patterns and projects, I've called it AwesomeReversibleKnitting. This spring, Alexanna invited me to give a talk on the math of reversible knitting at the Math/CompSci Peripatetic seminar at the UofC. It went very well and I gave a second talk on knitting constructions of math related surfaces, including Moebius and Klein bottles in the summer. I met Priyaa there, and she asked me to give a talk over zoom at her Relatorium seminar series, which is the talk on Nov 29th, through researchseminars.org<http://researchseminars.org/> ( https://researchseminars.org/talk/CompMath/7/ ).
What background is required?
The Relatorium seminar series is aimed at making math relatable for everyone, so no super math skills are required. For my talk, knitting skills are not required either, so I'm expecting a very diverse audience! I suggest a larger screen than a phone so you can see the slides. Cameras "on" are the norm but not required, audience participation is encouraged!
Feel free to pass this email along to anyone you think may be interested. If the time doesn't work for you, Priyaa will also publish the recording on the Relatorium YouTube channel.
I'm very excited about the talk and I hope you can attend!
Karen
