Title: The differential category of abelian functors



Abstract:  In homological algebra, it is common to conflate an abelian
category A with it associated category of chain complexes, Ch A.  This
practice is  made precise by realizing that Ch(-) is a monad which acts on
the category of abelian categories and gives it the structure of a Kleisli
category.  There is a functor calculus for functors of abelian categories
due to Johnson-McCarthy.  The linearization process from this calculus
gives rise to a kind of directional derivative.  In this talk, I will show
that abelian categories equipped with these structures satisfy the axioms
defining a differential category, at least,  up to quasi-isomorphism.
