Title: A brief introduction to Model Categories

Abstract: The study of algebraic topology is concerned with the study
of which spaces which can be deformed into which others in a continuous
manner. This notion is made rigorous via the homotopy relation. The study
of homotopy has proved to be fruitful in the category of topological
spaces. While homotopy is motivated by very geometric notions, it is
possible to develop homotopy in categories with little -or no- apparent
geometric structure via the notion of model categores. In this talk we
will define model categories and sketch how to generate homotopy and
homotopy groups from those axioms.
