Hello everyone,

PUBLIC is looking for book reviewers.
Book reviews are vital to the life of books. Joseph Mackin, an author and avid book reviewer, likens the publication of any book to the proverbial silent tree falling in the forest. It is the reviewer's task, he contends, to acknowledge that the tree fell, and to share with the world the sound it made when it hit the ground.

We welcome short reviews (1000-1250 words) of recently published books on topics that align with our focus on Canadian and international contemporary art, culture, and theory. At this point in time, reviews don't have to be explicitly related to an issue's theme, but should be in line with PUBLIC's interdisciplinary focus.

Please send expressions of interest to me, Sara Swain, at sara.swain at gmail.com<mailto:sara.swain at gmail.com> with the subject line "book review" and include your name and a brief bio, as well as the title, author, and publisher of the book you would like to review.

In addition, we currently have copies of Diversity Counts: Gender, Race, and Representation in Canadian Art Galleries by Anne Dymond, and Tear Gas: Protest, Culture, Museums by Kristy Robertson which would love to be reviewed! If anyone is interested in writing reviews of these for PUBLIC, please let me know and I will happily make arrangements to get the books to you.

Warmly,

Sara
