The deadline for the CRTC Prize for Excellence in Policy Research has been extended to Friday February 8, 2019. Papers should be sent electronically (.pdf rtf. or .doc format) to Dr. Daniel Paré (daniel.pare at uottawa.ca).

Please note that this award is for graduate students and young scholars, so colleagues, please encourage your graduate students and post-doc students to apply!

CRTC PRIZE FOR EXCELLENCE IN POLICY RESEARCH
Terms of Reference

Purpose

Recognize and honour the most promising research articles in the fields of communications, information, and media studies
Promote scholarly excellence in the fields of communications, information, and media studies
Raise the profile of graduate-level and post-doctoral research activity in communications, information, and media studies programs across Canada
Stimulate advanced research by graduate students and post-doctoral researchers to enhance the CRTC’s evidence base
Promote a new generation of researchers working on issues of relevance to the public interest in the fields of communications, information, and media studies
Description of awards

Each award includes:


  *   ​A monetary award (Master’s: $1,500, Doctorate: $2,500, Post-doctoral researchers: $1,000)
  *   Travel to, and accommodation at, the annual Canadian Communications Association (CCA) conference and the annual International Institute of Communications (IIC) conference (usually in Ottawa)
  *   Presentation of winning papers at the CCA annual conference
  *   Translation and publication of the winning papers in both official languages on the CRTC’s website
  *   Presentation of winning papers before CRTC commissioners and other federal policy-makers
  *   Papers should be sent electronically to Prof. Daniel J. Paré, Past-President (2016-2018), Canadian Communications Association, University of Ottawa: daniel.pare AT uottawa.ca

Modalités

Raison d’être

Reconnaître et honorer les articles de recherche les plus prometteurs dans les domaines des communications, de l’information et d’études sur les médias.
Promouvoir l’excellence académique dans les domaines des communications, de l’information et d’études sur les médias.
Rehausser le profil des activités de recherche aux cycles supérieurs et postdoctorat dans le cadre des programmes d’études en communications, information et d’études sur les médias offerts à travers le Canada.
Stimuler la recherche avancée faite par les étudiants et étudiantes aux cycles supérieurs et les candidates et candidats au postdoctorat, afin de permettre au CRTC de bénéficier de données.
Promouvoir l’émergence d’une nouvelle génération de chercheuses et chercheurs intéressés à travailler sur des questions d’intérêt public dans le domaine des communications, de l’information et d’études sur les médias.

Description des prix

Chaque prix comprendra:


  *   ​Un prix en argent (Maîtrise: 1 500$, Doctorat: 2 500$, Postdoctorat et chercheurs: 1 000$).
  *   Frais de voyage et de logement pour assister à la conférence de l’Association canadienne de communications (ACC) et à la conférence de l’Institut international des communications (IIC) (habituellement à Ottawa).
  *   La présentation des articles gagnants à la conférence de l’ACC.
  *   La traduction et la publication des articles gagnants dans les deux langues officielles sur le site web du CRTC.
  *   La présentation des articles gagnants aux conseillers du CRTC et à d’autres décideurs fédéraux.
