This year, HKSA had the privilege of being invited to the City of Calgary organized Canada Day celebration on July 1st. It is an amazing opportunity for us to be involved with the City on such a large scale event! The event will be taking place on the RiverFront and Chinese Cultural Centre from 11am-11pm. There will be fireworks in the evening as well as performances throughout the day at the Cultural Centre. HKSA will be running several food booths to sell our own homemade Asian style food on July 1st from 11am-6pm. We are looking for around 30-40 volunteers to help out on July 1st (~30) and/or June 30th (~10). Time shifts, locations and tasks are as follows: Saturday, June 30th Time: TBD - will confirm the time next week, but it will be around 11am - 5pm. Location: Calgary Chinese Cultural Centre kitchen Tasks: Food preparation - cutting, marinating meat, etc. Sunday, July 1st Time: 9am - 2pm or 1:30pm-7pm Location: The loop behind Cultural Centre Tasks: Morning shift: set up; Afternoon shift: take down and help clean up - Cashier - Assembling and selling food - More detailed roles for each booth will be given after sign up. **Please make sure you are on time for your shift!! We want to make sure that we have enough people at each booth at all times.** It is also suggested that you do not wear any fancy clothes :p The volunteer hours from this event will count towards the 20 hour minimum for CCR credit with HKSA for the year of 2012-2013. Chinese Cultural Centre will also be printing recognition certificates for all HKSA volunteers!! This will be a fun and unique experience, so come join us in celebrating Canada Day and Calgary Stampede's 100th anniversary this year! Please respond by May 31st to hksa.uofc@gmail.com with your name, phone number, and email. Volunteers are not required to be HKSA members, so feel free to pass this message on to all your friends! Thank you for everyone's attention with this long email. This is a short notice, but your help is greatly appreciated.
