This month, Cory Green of TransCanada and Stelios Pantazopoulos of
ThoughtWorks will be bringing us an in-depth experience report with insights
focusing on Testing.
The title of their presentation will be: "Testing on the TransCanada Alberta
Gas Accounting Project."
As part of this talk, Cory and Stelios will outline how this project may or
may not be typical of agile projects, and how their lessons learned can be
of use to you. This TransCanada project involved new and legacy code, with a
high risk factor and a two year scope. The content of the presentation will
focus on how testing influenced the outcome of this project.
Cory and Stelios will take us through the project life cycle, showing how
testing fit into the day to day delivery of functionality. They will also
elaborate on how some agile best practices contributed to the testing
effort:
- Excel-based Automated Functional Tests
- Working application built on demand
- Lo-fi prototypes
- Every team member tests
- Co-location of Developers, Analysts and Business
This presentation will be very concrete and should include actual project
artifacts which demonstrate how the team applied these best practices.
*Location:* ICT 122, ICT Building, University of Calgary
*Time:* 18:00-18:30 (warmup: juice & snacks), 18:30 - 19:30
Hope to see you all there!
Sincerely,
Kris Read
